That client I treated was told by their chiropractor to “not have any massage therapy!” Fuck you, you stupid dickhead. As if you actually think that. This client tore fibers in a muscle that attaches exclusively to the shoulder blade, lets adjust her spine, make her feel worse, then have her back three times a week.

I have nothing against chiropractic or chiropractors in general. I understand that I don’t know how to adjust bone and bone often needs adjusting. I also understand that if you don’t treat the surrounding musculature, those muscles will pull whichever bone you adjusted right back out. Same goes with massage - if you have a rotated vertebrae, and treat the muscles without adjusting the bone (YOU CAN MOBE THE BONE, BY THE WAY - doesn’t involve any violent adjustments, sometimes will do just fine) then you won’t get any long-term relief. I can see both sides and the importance of treating both, obviously.

But it makes me so fucking mad that people are meant to TRUST health care professionals and this one not only put this client in MORE pain, but also gave them nothing to take home - no advice, no explanation. I told them which muscle, how bad, what to avoid, what to do, I called them 2 days later to follow-up and I NEVER, ever told them to not go back to the chiro, even when they flat-out asked me. I could have said no, they would have taken that advice, because I know and they don’t, right? People who abuse the power they have deserve to have none. Now this client is totally confused about what to do, even though one makes it feel better and one makes it feel worse.

I know I’ll have to deal with this exact situation in the future. Should probably quit blogging about work now - don’t want to make a habit out of it, obviously. But I’m still in school and needed to vent.

Fuck you, whoever you are, for making someone feel worse and trying to cheat them out of their money. You suck!
